Fall Hike

We're planning a backpacking trip to Harriman State Park, NY leaving Friday 19th October and Returning Sunday 21st October.

We will to travel up on Friday evening (2 hour drive) to camp on Friday night at a group site on the shores of Little Long Pond before starting on the trail first thing Saturday.

The hike is an 18.7 mile loop through Harriman State Park taking in parts of the Appalachian Trail and the NewYork State Long Path with an overnight stop at the 10 mile mark at Brien Memorial Shelter on the AT.

Spring Hike

We are planning our spring hike on the Appalachian Trail next weekend and (hopefully) to meet Mr. Jones and walk with him for 21.1 miles over a couple of days.

We will be traveling up to the trail on Friday night and this is our proposed itinerary:

Friday night (0.4 miles)

Leave at 7pm from Sharp Elementary School parking lot, Old Orchard Road.
        Travel to intersection of route 501 and AT
Meet Jerry and walk 0.4 miles to Applebee campsite (or stay in Route 501 shelter adjacent highway, if empty)

Saturday (14.1 miles)

Walk to Fort Dietrich (8.4 miles) for lunch (or 8.8 miles, if we stayed in the shelter)
Walk to Eagle’s Nest shelter and campsite for dinner and overnight (6.1 miles)

Sunday (6.2 miles)

Walk to Auburn Lookout, wave goodbye to Mr. Jones and exit trail.
        Return to Sharp School.

ALL SCOUTS SHOULD HAVE 2 QUARTS OF WATER WITH THEM WHEN THEY LEAVE AND HAVE SPACE IN THEIR PACKS TO CARRY FOOD  AND EQUIPMENT FO THE TROOP.

Scouts, our fall Court of Honor is only 2 weeks away.

If you think you are ready for rank advancement then your last chance for a Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review is this Thursday at St. Andrews.

REMEMBER, to have a Board of Review you MUST be in your field (Class A) uniform.

Fall Court of Honor

Our Fall Court of Honor will be held at Sharp School at 7pm on October 13.

Parents, come along and help us celebrate our Scouts' achievements over the summer and through out the year!

November Camping Trip

In November we're planning to camp at Camp Ockanickon for our traditional Wilderness Survival weekend.

As usual, we shall be leaving at 7pm on Friday 18th from Sharp school and returning on the morning of Sunday 20th November.

More details closer to the date.

Mark Your Diaries - Fall Food Drive

The Fall Scouting for Food food drive is provisionally scheduled for as follows :
  • Sunday November 6th - Bag distribution
  • Sunday November 13th - Bag pick up and delivery to food pantry

October is Hiking Month!

Our next excursion will be a day hike at Valley Forge National Historic Park on Saturday 22nd October.

NOTE: COMPLETED PERMISSION FORMS REQUIRED PRIOR TO PARTICIPATING IN THIS ACTIVITY.
